As urban centers adopt smart mobility solutions to address congestion, emissions, and transport efficiency, seamless integration among services like ride-sharing, public transport tracking, EV infrastructure, and autonomous systems becomes critical. Current approaches are often rigid and monolithic, limiting scalability and real-time responsiveness. Digital twins offer a promising framework, but existing implementations are constrained by tight coupling and low modularity. This paper presents a microservices-based digital twin architecture for flexible, scalable, and real-time integration of heterogeneous mobility services. By decoupling functionalities into independently deployable services within a unified city-wide model, the architecture enables dynamic updates, fast iteration, and robust interoperability. Simulations are embedded within scenarios and sub-scenarios, supporting modular, workflow-driven orchestration and structured integration of simulation services, adaptable to evolving urban dynamics and decision-making needs. A case study validates the approach, demonstrating its ability to overcome monolithic system limitations and foster agile, resilient smart mobility ecosystems. (2025-12-10)
