This work provides an in-depth overview of the main mechanisms and effects related to thyroid hormone system disruption (THSD). Table 1 and accompanying text include, among others, the methods and supporting mechanistic information (mainly adverse outcome pathways (AOPs)) currently available, as well as a note on the taxonomic, sex, and life-stage domains of applicability. This detailed, structured description supplements the study of Vergauwen et al. (2026). It also serves as a resource for the development of integrated approaches to testing and assessment (IATA), providing a framework for adding information on mechanisms and effects as it becomes available.
